Richard Migala

Corporate Lawyer

Mr. Migala is a licensed attorney serving clients in not only Michigan but nationwide, for over 27 years. A former Michigan State Trooper, Berrien County Deputy Sheriff, and Benton Harbor Patrolman, he brings all of his law enforcement knowledge and expertise to the courtroom. As an experienced attorney, he works hard to ensure that his clients receive the compensation they deserve.

“My firm represents those families injured or killed in accidents and criminal defense. I am responsible for all areas of my practice, not just legal representation management, but business management as well, including developing and implementing the firm’s advertising.  I have seen business grow from less than $100,000.00 in gross revenues to over $1,000,000.00 in annual revenues.

I am the sole lawyer in my firm.  When you call my office, you will speak to me, not a receptionist, legal assistant or an associate.  My firm concentrates in litigating personal injury claims and wrongful death claims on behalf of those who are wrongfully injured or killed.  I have obtained multi-million-dollar settlements or jury verdicts on behalf of my clients. I am committed to obtaining the best results possible for the families I represent.  Let me put my 25 plus years of legal and law enforcement experience to work for you.

I also represent individuals for misdemeanor and traffic offenses as well as assist people who have driver’s license issues.  I take pride in helping young adults navigate the criminal justice system and minimizing or eliminating the prospect of having a permanent criminal record.

I look forward to offering these services on a regional and national level to anyone who needs my help.”

Corporate Lawyer

Originally from Dimondale, Michigan, I graduated from Holt High School.  I received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Michigan–the real one in Ann Arbor.

In 1995, I joined the Michigan State Police and earned the title of State Trooper.  I was assigned to the South Haven Post. As a road trooper, I enforced traffic laws and investigated criminal complaints.  While working with a squad of troopers in Benton Harbor, following the riots of 2003, I was injured in the line of duty. Due to permanent nerve damage, I retired from the State Police in 2005, and I went on to law school.

In, 2006, I began my next chapter at the Thomas M. Cooley Law School.  While in law school, I maintained dean’s list status and earned seven Certificates of Merit in Property, Civil Procedure, Research and Writing, Pretrial Skills, Secured Transactions, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and Advanced Writing.  In 2009, I graduated Magna Cum Laude in the top 3 percent of my class with a concentration in litigation.

In 2010, I was hired as an Assistant Prosecutor at Berrien County.  As an attorney in the criminal division, I was responsible for handling everything from civil infractions for speeding to felony trials for criminal sexual conduct and assault with the intent to murder.  I was also the acting chairman for the concealed weapons licensing board for Berrien County.

In January of 2015, I left the prosecutor’s office and opened my current practice assisting and representing individuals with their legal needs.  Life often presents us with problems of one sort or another, and I enjoy helping people with their legal issues. Having been both a police officer and a prosecutor, I know proper police procedures and tactics as well as the kinds of things that the prosecutor will look for in their criminal cases.

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and our two beagles.  I enjoy boating and kayaking during the summer months, and I have always been a fan of American Muscle Cars.
